A bit about Bogs!

Imagine Ireland without turf - bogs and Ireland go together like jelly and ice-cream. Think of generations of stories told, songs sung and romances kindled around the glow of a traditional peat fire. Yet once a cornerstone of Irish life, the boglands are fast becoming an endangered habitat a problem that has spurred Bog Standard, to team up with the Irish Peatland Conservation Council to help raise funds and awareness of this valuable piece of Irish heritage.

In 2007 to celebrate our birthday, Bog Standard launched a range of luxury hand creams and hand washes in their signature Irish Field and Irish Linen scents supporting the work of the Irish Peatland Conservation Council (IPCC). With a percentage of price of each item sold destined directly for the charity and prominent areas of the eye-catching packaging dedicated to highlighting the importance of the protection of the boglands for future generations  - it’s support for which the IPCC are extremely grateful.

“We were keen to mark the occasion in some way by doing something that would help conserve the landscapes that are my source of inspiration for the Bog Standard products. With a wealth of worthy environmental causes in Ireland it was difficult to decide where to direct our support, we found the answer in our quirky brand name!”
